Agreement made in 1562 between (1) John Merills of Stoke next Clare (Suff.), tailor, and Ann his wife, and Francis Stansby of Stansted (Suff.), clothier, and Rose his wife, (2) John Calcott of High Holborne (Midd.), gentleman, and (3) Rose Ellis of Glemsford (Suff.), widow; witnessing that before the end of Easter term next a fine be levied in the court of Common Pleas between John Calcott and Rose Ellis, complainants, and the other parties, deforciants, concerning all that messuage late of Thomas Steppers and other messuages, etc., in Stradishall (Suff.), in a certain street or place there called "Woodgate End," and now in the occupation of Richard Cuttiner, which the said John Calcott late had purchased to him and his heirs of and from the said John Merrills; and also all that messuage commonly called "Crowche House," sometime of John Savers and afterward of John Cork, deceased, situated in Glemsford between the messuage of Henry Kermyton to the north, the land of John Hilles to the south, and abutting on the common highway leading from Eyremonstreete to Tyegreene to the east, and now in the occupation of John Sleggoe and William Nobbs, which said premises the said Rose Ellis late had purchased of the aforementioned Rose, wife of Francis Stansby before her marriage with the said Francis.
